Technical Information for StarCam™

Our scanning systems utilize projected patterns, each optimized for capturing the surface geometry of diverse materials such as metal, wood, glass, ice, foam, skin, hair, translucent polymers.

StarCam™ underlying technology, based on the human optic system, uses stereo images of a subject's contrast, brightness, and edge cues to accurately measure hundreds of thousands of discrete points in almost an instant. These scans are then automatically aligned and stitched together into one complete 3D digital model of the original object.

Star Cam™ Compatibility

The compatibility chart refers to the 3D file types readable and usable by common CAD and CAM software. VX3D scanners can output a Mesh or Point format file type.

For customers requiring NURBS or Parametric Surface data VX provides partner solutions making the process seamless. Also, check with your CAD software provider for recent plug-ins permitting 3D mesh capabilities.
